คณะสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ดำเนินพันธกิจภายใต้แนวทาง “การออกแบบเพื่อความยั่งยืน” (Design for Sustainability) เพื่อสนับสนุนเป้าหมายการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืนของสหประชาชาติ (UN-SDGs) ผ่านการศึกษา การวิจัย และการบริการวิชาการที่เชื่อมโยงสังคม สิ่งแวดล้อม และวัฒนธรรมอย่างสมดุลคณะฯ มุ่งสร้างสรรค์ผลงานและนวัตกรรมที่ส่งเสริม SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, และ SDG 13: Climate Action เป็นต้น โดยเน้นการพัฒนาหลักสูตรที่ตอบโจทย์ทักษะแห่งอนาคต (Future Skills) การใช้เทคโนโลยี AI และดิจิทัลในงานออกแบบอย่างมีจริยธรรม การออกแบบเมืองและอาคารที่ลดการปล่อยคาร์บอน (Low-Carbon and Green Design) และการสร้างพื้นที่เรียนรู้ที่เป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อม (Sustainable Learning Spaces)นอกจากนี้ คณะฯ ยังบูรณาการงานวิจัยและบริการวิชาการเพื่อสนับสนุนชุมชนในภูมิภาคอีสานให้เติบโตอย่างยั่งยืน เช่น การออกแบบพื้นที่สีเขียวในเมือง การพัฒนาเมืองน่าอยู่ (Resilient City) และการอนุรักษ์สถาปัตยกรรมพื้นถิ่นที่มีคุณค่าทางวัฒนธรรม เพื่อให้ “การออกแบบ” เป็นพลังแห่งการเปลี่ยนแปลงสังคมไปสู่อนาคตที่ดีกว่า

APDS KKU integrates design, research, and social engagement to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing Design for Sustainability as a guiding philosophy. The faculty actively contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 13 (Climate Action) through creative learning, responsible innovation, and community partnerships.Its initiatives promote low-carbon urban planning, green building design, circular material innovation, and accessible education for all. The curriculum focuses on future-ready skills, digital and AI-integrated design ethics, and the creation of inclusive learning environments.Beyond the classroom, APDS collaborates with local communities to co-develop resilient cities, expand green infrastructure, and preserve vernacular architecture of Isan. Through these efforts, the faculty envisions design as a transformative tool for equity, sustainability, and cultural continuity.
